Adult Bullies – Everywhere!

I’ve been seeing a lot of bullying on Facebook lately. I can’t believe the unmitigated nerve some people have! My own experience has left me in total disbelief! Can you believe someone said to me, “You’re one of those people who need to be hanged!” All because I had a different opinion! If someone were to say that to my face, they’d probably get popped in the nose. People seem to think they are so important that they can be rude and bully people — all over a difference of opinion!

Opinions are not right nor wrong. They are opinions. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, regardless of what others think. If you want to be respected for YOUR opinion then you must show some respect for others’ opinions. Simple as that. You don’t have the right to belittle or bully ANYONE! That’s what middle-schoolers do! Grow up!

Funny story…..

I went to Walmart today after my appointment and pulled into a parking spot next to another car on my left. I had this song playing, and if you know me then you know I had the volume up pretty loud. My window was down about 4 inches or so. I sat there for a minute, checking my phone and responding to a message. I rolled up the window, turned off the car and got out. That’s when I noticed this kid in the car next to me, plugged into an ipod. He looked like he was around 15 years old. He pulled the earphone out of his ear and asked, “What are you listening to?” I told him, “Swedish Death Metal. What are you listening to?” He says, “Nothin’.” I had to laugh because I imagined he was listening to something sappy like Justin Beiber or some other nit-witted pop idol. I also imagine he has never seen an old lady like me listening to Swedish Death Metal…or any metal at all. LMAO!

It made my day!

Ugh…..

Here I sit, sick with a dreadful head cold. I haven’t been sick since December. Ugh. I know that no one likes to be sick. I despise being sick. I am of no use to anyone when I’m sick. I just want to crawl into bed and stay there until the sickness passes…..or I die from boredom, whichever comes first.

Instead of laying in bed all day, I decided to transfer my Blogger Blog to WordPress. So far, so good. It’s here. I figured an update would be in order since it’s been so long since I blogged. (That is, if the fog in my brain will let me complete sentences and actually make sense.)

What has happened over the last 6 months?

*My 3rd grand baby was born in February! Oh my! He is so precious. He has hair like his mother when she was a baby. S.R. had the wildest hair, but I could put clips and ribbons in her hair to keep it ‘tamed’. The first comment people make when they see photos of K.A. is, “Look at that hair!” Dad and I have been trying to go see “the little hairy one” at least once a month. I can’t wait to go see him again.

*My daughter and her boyfriend (A NEW AND IMPROVED BOYFRIEND, since I last posted on the subject!!) have a nice little apartment in Branson, both are working, and they have a competent babysitter for “the little hairy one”. I am very pleased that S.R. is back on track and equally pleased with Z.G., who has proved to be a great daddy and a really good guy. I am very happy to welcome him into our crazy family!

*My pain level continues to rise. If it’s not the ice cold winter, it’s the humidity making my pain worse. Some days I can barely walk. My cane gets lots of use these days. I’m looking into finding a new doctor.

*My son and his girlfriend have found a place of their own and I have an extra room now for my supplies. It’s still a bit on the unorganized side, but I’m working on what works best for me. Time to get the business back on track!

*I have been taking my therapist’s advice and taking care of me. I have spent nearly my entire adulthood taking care of others’ needs and putting my own needs on the back burner. I don’t mind helping others. I actually like helping people. However, I have never set boundaries or limitations. I have had to cut ties with a couple friends because they just didn’t understand. I guess they figured I should be there for them at any given moment.

*I won’t give any details here about this, but let me just say that I am DONE trying to jump through hoops that I just can’t jump through! When one party refuses to take into consideration my physical pain and limitations and STILL expects me to jump….well let’s just say the truth will come out eventually and they will be seen for the hypocritical, judgmental, self-righteous people they truly are. Karma’s a real bitch, baby!

*We finally upgraded to faster internet!! I am finally able to do a lot of things more easily, that I put off all the time before because it was just too much trouble. So, I wonder what I might be getting into next! More blogging for one…..

*Dad is doing great, aside from his forgetfulness. Of course, brain fog makes me forget too, so who am I to talk, huh? What he forgets, I remember. What I forget, he remembers. We help each other out, see?!

So, that’s about it…. Of course, the fog in my head prevents me from remembering a lot of what has been going on lately. I’ll remember more when I’m feeling better and when I come back to read this, I’ll feel like a complete imbecile!

Back to bed….

A Fond Christmas Memory

For some odd reason, I don’t remember a lot about our Christmases growing up. Oh, there are a few things I can recall like the little Life Savers ‘books’ Santa would bring us, the Christmas coloring books and brand spankin’ new crayons, the candy canes, and the gift my sisters and I got to open on Christmas Eve. It was always new pajamas, or a new outfit to wear on Christmas Day. I don’t think we appreciated it then as much as we do now. I don’t remember too much about any gifts I (we) got, or if we were disappointed because we didn’t get what we wanted. Those things just aren’t important enough to remember.

The fondest Christmas memory I have is the time we couldn’t afford a tree or maybe we just waited too long to get one. I really don’t remember that part. My mom, being the creative and crafty person she was, noticed the GIANT pine tree on the side of our neighbor’s yard which had a broken branch. It was HUGE! I don’t know if Mom asked the neighbor or not but she went outside and snatched up that humongous branch and brought it in the house! She trimmed the branch so it would fit in the corner of the living room. She propped it up, and if I recall correctly, she had to secure it to the wall to keep it from falling! We decorated it with our usual holiday ornaments, tinsel and star on top and that’s the ONLY Christmas tree I remember as a kid! It was an awesome Christmas tree! It’s great how Mom made sure we had a tree that year. I’ll never forget it.

No Rain by Blind Melon

Yes, my life IS pretty plain, but it’s mine and no one else’s. I love the simple things in life. I love watching the rain fall, watching for rainbows, and waiting for the birds, rabbits and squirrels to come out and play. I love the blooms that Spring brings, the chirping sounds of nature, and the warmth of the sun. I love rock music, suspenseful movies, and spicy food.

I love to sit down with a good book and a cup of tea. It’s a great escape from the simple, sometimes boring life I live. I complain about things that don’t seem right and when things seem much more difficult than they should be. I don’t sleep all day but sometimes wish I could.

I sometimes have an odd point of view and many people don’t ‘get’ me but those who do are near and dear to my heart. They’re there for me when times are tough and they understand my tears. As long as I have the people in my life that I love, then I’ll have it made. Those who think I’m insane? Eh. Their problem, not mine. I’m ok with that.
