Sick Miss Kitty

We’ve had a rough 5 days or so. Miss Kitty has been sick. She’s nearly 14 years old and I didn’t know if I would have to take her to the vet or not. She had been eating and drinking, and toileting herself so I figured she could fight this cold off with little help of OTC supplements. She (and the others) get Lysine daily, so her dose went to twice daily. I also added DMG Immune Formula and Nose Relief drops.

It was a rough weekend for poor Miss Kitty. She couldn’t breathe out of her nose so she had her mouth open most of the time. Her eyes were a drippy mess and she did a lot of sneezing. Slowly, the sneezing subsided and her eyes stopped leaking. The last thing to clear up was her nose. She’s still a little congested but overall, she’s much improved from the weekend. Thank Goodness!!

She’s almost back to her old grouchy self; wagging her tail for no reason, rolling over for tummy rubs only to get aggravated after a few rubs, and pacing the floor as if she’s on the prowl for demons or something! She’s taking a nap now, tail still wagging…silly cat.

Caturday Is Not For The Weak

Well, today was Caturday! More like Catur-YAY! Mom and Grampa went out for the day and left me in charge. What do ya think of that?

So, now…ME. Alice, that’s my name. I’m the boss for the day. I don’t know why Mom makes any of us boss. What the heck does she think we’re going to do if one of us gets out of line? She’s nuts.

Anyway, I was thinking about getting some kibble but that fat cat, Honey, probably ate it all. She’s so big! I’m afraid she will sit on me! Here’s a pic of her in all of her mighty bigness:

I didn’t take this picture… I can never figure out how to use mom’s thingie that takes pictures. I don’t even know what a picture really is!

Honey is nice to me most of the time. She gives me a bath because I don’t like to do it myself. *Snicker*

She’s so big, I’m surprised she can even get in Grampa’s chair!

When I’m in charge I never have trouble with Honey. It’s Jack that causes trouble if he’s in the house. Sometimes, Mom makes him go outside when she leaves because he picks on Honey. This morning he chased her under Mom’s bed and Mom got mad and shook a spray bottle at him! He hates that so much! He ran away like a big baby! Mom says, “I always know how to make Jack stop doing something!” Here’s Jack after Mom let him outside:

He’s such a scaredy cat! I’m surprised he even goes outside! He’s afraid of everything! If a leaf blows in front of him, he jumps sky high! If a grasshopper lands in front of him, he jumps sky high! You should see him in the house! All Mom has to do is move her foot too quickly and he jumps sky high!

Uh oh. I think he’s mad because I was making fun of him! He told me he’s jumpy because it’s snake season. I don’t know what a snake is, but it must be scary!

Kitty, in this next picture, sleeps all day long! Can you believe Mom leaves her in charge sometimes? I don’t know what she’s thinking when she does that!

Kitty’s a good girl but she’s sure bitchy. I hope when I’m 12 years old like she is, I won’t be so grouchy! She’s scarier than any snake could be, I’m sure!

Mom tells Kitty all the time to “Take a chill pill” and I don’t know what that means but I don’t think Kitty’s is taking one.

Today was a good day, though. I can’t complain. Everyone was good and Mom will be so proud of me. It’s hard work being in charge while Mom is away. I know there’s not much to do and I can’t punish Jack or anything because I can’t reach the spray bottle, but I have to make it look good! Caturday is not for the weak, you know!

“Kitty” is her name, yes. She’s 12 years old this month! She’s not feeling well so she has to go to the vet tomorrow for an overnight stay. She’s never been away from home like this so I’m sure she’ll be scared. I’ll worry about her all night long, but it can’t be helped.

This morning I noticed a little blood and mucus in her stool so she’s going to have some blood work done, and be given a couple meds as the first round of treatment. Hopefully, that’ll be the end of it and she can come home with a clean bill of health. I’m praying for the best but preparing for the worst. I’ve lost 2 elderly cats since Feb. 2017, and Kitty is no spring chicken. Losing my furbabies is hard as hell.

I may be taking some time off of my blog and social media to take care of Kitty and tend to other things. There’s a lot going on this month. Details later! I’m feeling the stress already and by month’s end, I’ll be in a straight jacket! Hahaha!

El Diablo or Just A Little Jealous?

Last night I was watching a little late-night tv when one of our cats decided to jump up on my lap. Korn (yes, that’s his name!) rarely gets on anyone’s lap – he’s just a ‘good ol’ boy’ and if you’re from ’round these parts’ (SW Missouri) then you’ll know what that means. I think. He just doesn’t give a rat’s you-know-what about much of anything…. except well, maybe chow time.

Anyway, Korn is on my lap gettin’ some lovin’ and here comes Kitty! Kitty has been a part of our family now for a little over a year. She’s an evil cat. (Her eyes actually glow red!) She’s lovable ONLY when she’s in a sound, sound sleep. (What were we thinking?!) She’s on the arm of the chair, looking at Korn, then looking at the vacant space on my lap, then looking back at Korn again. I could tell she wanted on my lap as well. So I motioned her to join us….patted the vacant spot on my lap as an invitation….she got the message. She jumps up on my lap and lays beside Korn. Immediately, she starts making this deep, guttural sounding growl and when I told her “No” and to “Hush” she hissed at me! She was showing her true colors that’s for sure! She never stopped growling and hissing until Korn got off of my lap and moved to the arm of the chair! But even though Korn had moved, every time I tried to pet her, she growled some more! Finally, before she could kill me or do bodily damage, I made her leave! Can a cat really get that jealous over another cat or is she truly “El Diablo’s Sister?”
