We’ve had a rough 5 days or so. Miss Kitty has been sick. She’s nearly 14 years old and I didn’t know if I would have to take her to the vet or not. She had been eating and drinking, and toileting herself so I figured she could fight this cold off with little help of OTC supplements. She (and the others) get Lysine daily, so her dose went to twice daily. I also added DMG Immune Formula and Nose Relief drops.
It was a rough weekend for poor Miss Kitty. She couldn’t breathe out of her nose so she had her mouth open most of the time. Her eyes were a drippy mess and she did a lot of sneezing. Slowly, the sneezing subsided and her eyes stopped leaking. The last thing to clear up was her nose. She’s still a little congested but overall, she’s much improved from the weekend. Thank Goodness!!
She’s almost back to her old grouchy self; wagging her tail for no reason, rolling over for tummy rubs only to get aggravated after a few rubs, and pacing the floor as if she’s on the prowl for demons or something! She’s taking a nap now, tail still wagging…silly cat.

Oh I’m so, so glad Ms. Kitty is feeling better. I know it worries us when the fur babies get sick.

Very worried especially since she’s a hard one to get in a carrier to take to the vet…plus she won’t let me give any meds by mouth so anything she gets has to be a shot or something I could put in her food! Hopefully, tomorrow she’ll be even better!

Aww, yeah I know how that goes. It’s because of her respiratory issues I’m sure. I hope Kitty feels better, she looks like a sweetie.

She was traumatized by our last vet which is why she’s so hard to get in a carrier. She didn’t like it before, but it was managable. Now, not so much.

Isn’t it funny how every cat has such a different personality? I love that she wags her tale while she naps…and that she is feeling better. You gave a great tip there on the Lysine. I had wondered about giving some to Walter because he gets skin bumps on his chin sometimes. I bet it would help!

I don’t know if it helps skin issues specifically but it does help their immune system! It sounds like the skin bumps on his chin might be flea bites? Kitty gets them and since she’s allergic to flea bites, she turns into a bumpy mess without flea meds. I’ve had to go from topical flea drops (like Frontline) because they all quit working after a while. I’m using a Seresto flea collar now and it works but she’s getting bald spots and sores around her neck. I had to remove the collar for about a week and a half so she could heal from that. Now that she’s over her bout with her cold, maybe we’ll get back on track. I hope you can find something to get rid of Walter’s bumps! ❤

No, it’s not fleas. Luckily, we haven’t had fleas here in years. It’s some sort of autoimmune/allergy or some other combination that causes it. Poor baby has had some really bad outbreaks. But now I keep him on antibiotics on and off. I hate to do it, but it’s the only thing that’s helped. We’ve tried all sorts of different foods and other medications that should be helpful, but nothing does except for the antibiotics.

You can try Vetri-DMG Immune Formula, too. I found it on Amazon and Chewy, too. It helps the body’s own immune system fight off ‘whatever’ and I don’t know if it actually works but Kitty is over her cold. 💜

Oh, and Kitty wags her tail when she’s napping because she is annoyed…so even though it looks like she’s asleep, we can tell she’s aware of us and she is annoyed! Lol.
