No More Monkeys Jumping On The Bed

Once when my sisters and I were young, my youngest sister, who was probably around 5 years old, was jumping on the furniture. She knew better. Mom and Dad were always telling us to “stop jumping on the furniture!” Youngest sister was a brat and a half and did it anyway. She fell and knocked her head on the coffee table. Then she ran like a bat out of hell because she knew she was in big trouble! Everyone was chasing her, trying to catch her because she had blood spewing out of her head!! So, to the hospital she went. I don’t recall how many stitches she ended up with, but to my knowledge, she never jumped on the furniture again! In fact, I don’t think any of us ever jumped on the furniture again!

Goes to show you, kids don’t always do as they’re told. They have to learn on their own. As parents, we just have to pray they don’t kill themselves while learning their life lessons.

Friday’s Funnies – My Faves This Week

This past few weeks have been overwhelming, with my son getting married. My baby boy, imagine that. I’m too old for this shit. Getting things back on track hasn’t been easy, but Friday’s Funnies are back!

I have several things to share from the past couple of weeks. I hope you enjoy them! I know I always enjoy a good laugh and sometimes, it’s much needed. We all take things to seriously sometimes. Time to chill. Time to laugh.

Enjoy!

Last week, my BIL shared a post from 2 years ago. Little Peanut, tiny and cute! The newest addition to their family! Adorbs, right?

Well, poor Peanut got out of the yard and got chewed up by the neighbor’s dog — I KNOW NOT FUNNY — but Peanut recovered and ever since my BIL insists that this dog is…well…just…BROKEN. Of course, I had to argue. But then, he posted current photos.

I don’t know about you, but I think my BIL might be on to something.

I had an appt. yesterday and my co-pay is .50 whole cents. Dad asked me if I needed quarters. I told him yes and he held his hand out full of quarters. I said, “Oh nice and SHINY quarters!” He said, “Yes, I just made them.” Lol. Filing this under #ShitMyDadSays!

Umm, I guess I’d better watch for infrared cameras! Oopsie!

Perfect

I’m not much into Ed Sheeran’s music but when I was asked to create the music cd for my son’s wedding and this song was chosen for the procession, I was stunned. It was the most beautiful piece of music I have heard in a very long time. I love stringed instruments and I love how this song was arranged. I don’t care for the lyrical version but this cover is “perfect” for a wedding. Give it a listen!

Tears of Joy & My Baby Boy

Maybe you missed me, maybe you didn’t. It’s all good. I’m back nonetheless. This post might come a little scrambled….as my thoughts are still a bit scrambled from the event of the weekend.

My son and his girlfriend tied the knot this past Saturday evening. It was surreal and was as though time had stood still for just a few moments. This would be the last time my baby boy would be single.

As the music started, my son walked me to my seat. He waited patiently front and center while the rest of the Wedding Party was seated or had taken their place up front. One of the most touching moments was when the Bride’s Grandmother was being pushed in her wheelchair as she dropped flower petals along the path. What a beautiful Flower Girl!

I watched, fighting the tears, as my son saw his Bride for the first time in her dress, walking down the aisle with her Father. The Bride and her dress were gorgeous of course, but my son’s expression was priceless!

The Bride’s Brother officiated. It was a lovely ceremony and I couldn’t help but tear up. Of course, the hot flashes made me feel as though I was going to explode so I fanned myself quietly with the Wedding program in hand.

When my son and his Bride were pronounced Man and Wife, they shared a kiss that was passionate and a bit long. A bit too long for the Bride’s Father, who spoke up, “That’s enough!” Everyone chuckled out loud and it was done. My son was married! I have a new daughter and I’m happy to welcome her into my family as her family has welcomed my son into theirs.

I pray they have a long and loving marriage. I hope they give me lots of grandbabies! I will always wish the best for them because I love them both so much! I can’t wait to see what’s in their future! Right now, they are having a short and sweet Honeymoon. I can’t wait to see them when they come back!

For now, I get caught up on laundry and other chores! Chronic pain has caused me major problems these past couple weeks so I am suffering from lack of sleep. Getting back to my normal routine and getting in those daily power naps will help. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get back to my writing this week, too! Fingers crossed!

Monday’s Message

Monday’s Message is for the ladies this week. It’s simple. It’s hell growing old and we’re constantly searching for ways to slow the wrinkles and fine lines on our faces. Some of us have good skin and don’t worry too much. Others aren’t afforded that kindness. We have tiny black hairs that pop up out of nowhere, small blemishes, large pores — or so it seems. Sometimes it’s just that bastard magnifying mirror we use to find the tiny flaws in order to erase them from existence. You know what? Get rid of that bastardly magnifying mirror!! It causes such grief and insecurities! Throw it away! No one can see those tiny imperfections on your face. Only you can see them because you’re using that damn mirror! Throw it away ladies! Let’s free ourselves! Be free to be you, flaws and all!
