This Post Is Making Me Hungry!

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite restaurant?

Anyone who knows me knows that Mexican food is my favorite! I could eat Mexican food every day! I love spicy foods in general, but Mexican food is THE BEST!

My favorite restaurant would have to be El Chico Cafe. El Chico Cafe is a small chain of Tex-Mex eateries, offering daily specials, gift cards, catering, and curbside pick-up. The food is delicious and I never leave there hungry or disappointed! The servers are exceptionally nice and will try to accommodate your needs. For us, it’s a booth near the restrooms. Snort!

One of my favorite things on the menu at El Chico is the Chicken Tortilla Soup. What’s so special about it? The broth. I don’t know what’s in the broth but it is awesome! I also love and devour any of the enchiladas on the menu but if I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be the Avocado Enchiladas!

I’m drooling.

I am also very fond of the Fajitas and Chimichangas, and a good meal must be complemented with an alcoholic beverage! I don’t know if they still make it but I used to order a frozen margarita called a La Bandera. These days I don’t drink much alcohol (I never did before, except when we ate out) but if I decide to have something other than iced tea I normally opt for a Dos Equis Ambar. Sometimes beer just hits the spot!

You can check and see if there’s an El Chico near you here. There are several locations. Ours is in Mountain Home, AR. I always look forward to eating there and this post sure is making me hungry! I’ll have to wait until Wednesday though because Dad has an appointment with his cardiologist. We always go to El Chico afterward.

What job would you do for free?

I know what you’re thinking. My answer is NOT what the title suggests. Snort.

The job I would do for FREE would be to sit with cats and kittens and snuggle. I would love them, touch them, and squeeze them! All day long…

I basically do that with my kitties anyway so…

Alice is now the oldest of the pack, at 10 years old. I dread them all getting older.

Jack is a mama’s boy and he thinks he’s all that.

Honey Bear is attention deprived. Poor thing. She’s too heavy to pick up or have in my lap. She keeps to herself mostly because she hates the others, except Alice.

BobCat, aka Bobaduke, is the latest addition. Jack and BobCat are getting along better these days but sometimes Jack loses his shit. Snort.

Happy Caturday, Y’all!

Friday’s Funnies – My Faves This Week – April 7

Happy Friday, Everyone! I hope this week has been a good one. It’s been a bit rough on my end but what else is new? Between looking after Dad, the ceiling in the bathroom caving in, and appointments, I don’t know whether to shit or go blind. I have no clue what that means or where it originated but my ol’ Granny used to say that all the time! She used to say a lot of weird things!

Anyway, I hope this week’s funnies cheer you up if you need it, or make you happier if that’s the case! I think we can all use the laughs from time to time. So, without further ado, I hope you enjoy this week’s collection!

I can’t pick just one favorite this week! How ’bout you? I think my top 3 would be Family Feud Cat, Cologne, and Guy at the Bar. I hope you good laugh this time around! I missed last week’s Funnies post – as hard as I’ve been trying to post every day – things just keep getting in the way!

I hope you have a great weekend and a very nice Easter Sunday. Me? Same shit, different day. I keep on struggling through the days and hoping I can get a good night’s sleep every night so I can start all over the next day!

Until next time,

I Despise Sports…But…

Daily writing prompt
What Olympic sports do you enjoy watching the most?

I’ve never liked sports much, nor have I ever been a willing participant! There’s only one sport I truly enjoy though – watching, that is. Ice Hockey. I love a good game of hockey, but my favorite hockey games occur during the Winter Olympics.

I always root for my country, the USA, but when the final games come down, if the USA doesn’t make it to the end, I will root for the best team. The best team (in my eyes) could be based on how they played during the duration of the tournament but could also be ‘who’ they are. For example, I will always root for the team that plays against Russia. It doesn’t matter where they are from.

One of the most exciting games I have ever watched was in the 1998 Nagano games. It was Czech vs. Russia. The Czech Republic had two of the best players at the time, Jaromir Jagr and Dominic Hasek. Hasek wasn’t referred to as “The Dominator” for no reason! Talk about exciting! The Czech Republic kicked some Russian butt! I loved every second of that Gold Medal game!

I enjoy other competitions during the Winter Olympics, as well. I like figure skating, snowboarding, ski jumping, and the luge, but my favorite is and always will be ice hockey.

Changes? What Changes?

Daily writing prompt
How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?

For me, things are about the same now as they were pre-pandemic. Being disabled and unable to work, I only went out for groceries and appointments. Dad and I would eat out once a week and sometimes I would eat out with a friend.

When Covid-19 hit, we stayed home and only went out for medical appointments. We sometimes hit the drive-thru at the liquor store just to keep Dad’s supply of wine stocked. I ordered food online; Schwan’s, Nutrisystem, HMR, and anything that could be shipped I took advantage of. I ordered from Walmart, Target, and Dollar General. I ordered produce from a company that shipped every 2 -4 weeks. My son brought me meat and cheese items on occasion. I discovered late in the game that our local Walmarts were now offering curbside service so I started using that.

Now, we go out only for appointments and curbside orders at Walmart. Afterward, we usually eat out. I still order Schwan’s and Nutrisystem when I can afford it. HMR is up and running again so I can order from them. That’s about it these days. Dad’s health is declining and mine ain’t so hot either. Staying home and away from people is fine by me. No adaptation required.

Covid is still out there and we get our boosters every 6 months. We wear a mask when required, and sometimes when there’s a crowd or if someone is sick we don our masks. I’m waiting for it to get bad again. It wouldn’t surprise me if something worse came along. It will happen, eventually.
