Earworm – Hey There Delilah

What is an earworm, you ask?

It’s a tune or song that gets stuck in your brain! It’s that song that’s playing in your head as soon as you wake up in the morning and plays all day long. Sometimes it’s a good song or tune but sometimes it’s awful and drives you bonkers.

This one has been driving me nuts since 2006. The monotonous, repetitious tune makes me want to pull my hair out. For the past several weeks, when Dad and I go to our favorite Mexican restaurant they’ve been playing pop and alternative music instead of the normal Mexican music, which I always enjoyed. I don’t know why they stopped playing it but now it seems they have the same playlist on repeat every damn time we are there (today was one of those times) and this song is on it.  Ugh.

On the bright side, lunch was delicious!

Earworm – Bohemian Rhapsody

What is an earworm, you ask?

It’s a tune or song that gets stuck in your brain! It’s that song that’s playing in your head as soon as you wake up in the morning and plays all day long. Sometimes it’s a good song or tune but sometimes it’s awful and drives you bonkers.

Thankfully, today I woke up with Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody stuck in my head. Love it!

10 Songs On My Playlist Today

Today, I had an appointment that was quite the drive. It was 3 hours, round trip. As much as I love Dad and enjoy his company, humor, and stories of his youth, I really enjoyed being completely alone! My music kept me company and I cranked it up and rocked out! I sang along and wiggled and tapped to the music. This is something I can’t normally do with Dad in the car!

I am always amused by the number of people who look at me like there’s something wrong with me. They see a 56-year-old woman in a car with music blaring, that can be heard through closed windows and they get this odd look on their faces. Older people probably think I’m too old for that nonsense, younger people probably think it’s odd that I’m listening to such modern music, and people my age probably wonder why I’m not listening to country music! Some might just think, “Damn, is she deaf?”

What was I listening to? I’m glad you asked! (Even though you didn’t….heehee.) Here are 10 of the songs on my playlist today:

Korn – Freak On A Leash

Avatar – Let It Burn

Gojira – Stranded

Avenged Sevenfold – Hail To The King

Bad Wolves – Zombie (cover)

AC/DC – Thunderstruck

Rammstein – Du Hast

Red Sun Rising – The Otherside

Drowning Pool – Let The Bodies Hit The Floor

Soundgarden – Spoonman

So, what’s on your playlist?

Perfect

I’m not much into Ed Sheeran’s music but when I was asked to create the music cd for my son’s wedding and this song was chosen for the procession, I was stunned. It was the most beautiful piece of music I have heard in a very long time. I love stringed instruments and I love how this song was arranged. I don’t care for the lyrical version but this cover is “perfect” for a wedding. Give it a listen!

Study: Listening To Heavy Metal Makes You Calmer

Haha! And I thought it was just me all this time! I can honestly say that heavy metal or any other hard, loud, raunchy, angry music can sure make me feel better! It’s like the music and the emotions coming from the artist rip the anger and pain right out of me, calming me down to that level-headed, caring, sensible person I usually am! If you aren’t a fan of heavy metal or hard rock, give it a shot some time when you’re in a really pissy mood.  Just feel the negativity ooze right out of you!
