The Questions Asked of Me:

1. Who is your favorite visual artist? I don’t follow the art world but I do enjoy Brandon Boyd’s drawings and paintings. I have three of his books of drawings and writings. I would love to someday purchase some of his paintings. Brandon is a singer-songwriter/artist from the band Incubus, one of my favorites.

2. Which is your favorite bird species? I love birds of prey. I live in SW MO where they are very prominent, and I’m always on the look-out for hawks and eagles. Last Spring there was a nest of hawks in the forest behind our house. It was awesome seeing/hearing them, and just as awesome when it was time for the babies to leave the nest! We see many American Bald Eagles here, as well. They are the most majestic creatures.

3. Which is your favorite mammal species? Cats. Big cats, little cats. A cat is a cat. They are magnificent creatures, my spirit animal.

4. What is your favorite insect? I would have to say the butterfly. The transformation into such a beautiful and delicate creature is amazing!

5. What is your favorite plant? Tubers and evergreens.

6. Where do most visits to your blog come from? Coming in at first place, The Netherlands, and second place The United States.

7. If you would be invited to make a space journey, then to which solar system planet would you like to go? Any solar system or planet without the likes of Donald Trump and whose inhabitants are kind and generous would be fabulous!

My blog started in 2008 when I had become a grandmother for the first time! I wanted an outlet, for therapeutic purposes more than anything else. A lot happened in that first several years that I needed to get off my chest. I didn’t share my blog with anyone, I just wrote. A few years ago, I started to share and to interact with other bloggers, and I gained a few followers. I’ve made some great friends here!

My advice to new bloggers would be 1) Write what you know and 2) Don’t forget to interact with other bloggers!

I’ve been asked to tell 5 random facts about myself. So, here we go!

  1. I have a terrible fear of deep water. If I can’t see the bottom or if my feet don’t touch the bottom, forget about it!
  2. I have a thing for Scottish men. It’s that accent, dang it!
  3. I despise Romantic Comedies, Super Hero, and Horror movies.
  4. I punched a girl in the face once when I was in high school for talking smack. After that, she and her stupid friends stayed away from me, which was the desired result.
  5. I love Scandinavian films. Among my favorites is The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Trilogy.

I was nominated for this award a few weeks ago by The Haunted Wordsmith and I am just now getting around to posting. Shame on me. It’s the life of a pain-ridden, 50-something female… Can’t seem to remember anything these days and when I do, I get side-tracked! Ugh. So anyway, sending a big THANK YOU out to The Haunted Wordsmith for this nomination!

I started my blog 10 years ago when I was going through some major upheaval in my life. I needed an outlet. I didn’t share anything I wrote with anyone. It was just for me. In the last year or so, I have stepped outside of my comfort zone and started to interact with other bloggers, resulting in my blog being read by others. I have always loved to write….If only I still had the countless journals and diaries I had written as a child and young adult!! Anyway, it was therapeutic to write about what was going on or to write any thoughts that passed through my mind. This blog and my therapist have saved me from definite insanity.

My advice to new bloggers:

  1. Write whatever the hell you want to write. Don’t let “experts” tell you that you can’t or that you shouldn’t!!
  2. Don’t worry about stats or how many followers you have. Just write! You will connect with others, don’t worry! There will be other bloggers who can identify with your words but you have to write, and interact.

The Liebster Award

First, I’d like to thank Kelley’s DIY for the Liebster Award! I appreciate the nod!

What is the Liebster Award? The Liebster is an award that is given to bloggers by other bloggers. Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcoming.

The GUIDELINES for the Liebster Award are as follows:
1. Thank the person who nominated you
2. Display the award on your post
3. Answer the questions given to you

5. Ask them creative and unique questions of your own

Questions given to me:

1) What is your favorite color? Purple

2) Cats or Dogs? Cats!

3) Which is your ideal place: Beach, Lake, Ocean, Forest and why? Lake! I used to be a cross-country backpacker. I spent many hours beside a lake and campfire. It’s a peaceful place to be and I will always miss it!

4) Favorite Scary Movie? A Norwegian slasher film called Cold Prey. There’s also a Scandinavian film trilogy called The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The American remake was OK but the original was much better. Not really scary, but a thriller anyway.

5) One Wish? To have my mobility back so I can do the things I’d like to do.

6) Dream Vacation? Scotland! I’d love to see all of the castles. I love castles!

7) Saver or spender? In between, I suppose.

8) Which season do you prefer? (Spring,Summer, Fall, Winter)? Winter.

9) Where’s your happy place? In the woods, in nature.

10) Why did you start your blog? I started my blog because I was going through some “stuff” and I needed a way to vent. It became one of the things that saved my sanity.
