Ashamed

I used to feel ashamed that I was (and still am) on Medicaid. I never dreamed I’d end up disabled and dependent on anyone, let alone State Aid. It’s not my fault. I busted my ass at several jobs along the way and my last was self-employment. I had my own home business and busted my ass trying to make a living. In the end, over a decade later, I had to close my business because I just couldn’t do the work. I had to jump through hoops just to get on SSI, but I qualified for Medicaid after they verified my medical need.

So, here I sit. I am on SSI and receive a small retirement income, but the combination of the two still isn’t enough to live on if I were to live alone. I get SNAP (Food Stamps), but that’s not enough for an entire month. Seriously.

As I was saying, I used to feel ashamed that I receive any kind of aid because of the judgemental bullshit people spew. Some seem to think that “people can get a job instead of relying on taxpayers” blah, blah, blah. You’ve probably heard it all. No, what I’m ashamed of now is not that I’m on State Aid but the fact that our fucking worthless piece of shit asshole so-called president has made sure to strong-arm his party into compliance to pass that Big Beautiful Bill, that isn’t beautiful at all! So many cuts will be underway, and millions of people are going to lose whatever help they get because of it. I may lose what I get, and then what do I do? I know many people are worse off than I am, but I can’t afford to pay out of pocket for doctor visits, or the medications I need to be able to function. With soaring prices, it will be harder than ever on my measly income.

Does the Republican Party care? Hell no. They’re more worried about DJT calling them names or removing them from committees or whatever the hell they think he can do to them. Why don’t they just grow a pair and stand up to him? I think they actually like the fact that they (Republicans) have control and not the Democrats. They will do anything to keep that control. But you know what? They’re going to be voted out and replaced with Democrats come the primaries. Good. I’m sick of their bull shit. I could go on and on about what they’re doing, but that’s another post.

This post is about how ashamed I am of Republican politicians, DJT, Republican voters, and yes, even the Democrats, for allowing such a deplorable man to run for POTUS. I’m ashamed of this country for allowing that man to take such a hold on people. I’m ashamed of people for letting him brainwash them. I’m ashamed that they’re so stupid they can’t think for themselves and SEE what he is doing.

If you voted for that piece of shit, then I’m ashamed of you, too.

WTF??

MAGA folks, I hope you’re happy.

I hope you’re happy when your Social Security is cut or when your kids don’t get to eat lunch at school. I hope you ugly cry when your Medicaid or SNAP is cut. I hope you freakin’ truly begin to understand what you have done.

You have elected a narcissistic ignoramus to run this country. He has put an immigrant billionaire in charge of cutting waste – waste in their eyes, that is. They aren’t investigating and presenting proof of waste or fraud. They’re just cutting. They’re firing folks who help keep us safe, like air traffic controllers and the nuclear security folks. The latter were unfired but our country is still at risk. Every single act of firing and cutting weakens our country. I hope you’re ready for everything you’re going to lose.

The only immigrant I see taking your jobs away is Elmo Musk. Those migrant workers who are being deported were doing the jobs that YOU are too proud to take. I guess you’re ready to go out and pick your own fruits and vegetables for less than minimum wage.

Speaking of immigrants… Elmo Musk is an immigrant. Let’s deport his ass, too. Oh, wait. He’s not brown-skinned, is he?

I hope you will finally understand that your tax dollars are being wasted by this numbskull of a president. Yes, wasted. Remember the Super Bowl? It cost $15+ million to attend and he didn’t even stick around until the end. What about his trips to Maggot-lago that we pay for? What about his Daytona 500 appearances? Anytime he uses Air Force One, it is on us! All the money he has wasted boosting his own ego and trying to make us think he’s the best thing since sliced bread – that’s all GOVERNMENT WASTE but he wants to cut the things that help the people in this country.

I hope you realize your grocery and gas prices have not decreased. I hope you’ll still be able to get the medications you need. Many people aren’t that lucky. The prices of their life-saving or life-preserving medications have been so drastically raised, they aren’t able to afford them anymore. Think of your grandparents not being able to maintain their health now without the medications they need.

By the way, your narcissistic moron of a president thinks the war between Russia and Ukraine was started by Ukraine! What the literal fuck! Russia invaded Ukraine and the people of Ukraine are defending themselves! Did you notice that the “talks” to end the war didn’t even include Zelensky? Give me a freakin’ break. Who does that? Shitler is sucking up to Putin. He wants to be just like him. Open your damn eyes!!

I hope you’re sitting there with your red hat wondering what the hell you did. But I think more realistically that you’re proud of yourself. You may not have been affected yet by Shitler and Elmo’s actions. They’ll get you eventually.

The whole world is laughing at us. Every day we’re a little weaker in the eyes of the rest of the world. I hope you’re happy. I hope you’re ready for what happens.

So much to say, so little time. I just hope you’re happy with your vote, dumbass.

Some People…

I have been hearing a lot of people complaining lately that businesses are closing because they can’t find workers. I’ve heard those same people comment “People just don’t want to work anymore” and I think it’s pretty close-minded and unfair of them to say.

Yes, some folks don’t want to work. Those are the same people who soak up everything they can get out of every type of assistance available to them, even though they can work. But on the other hand, considering the damage done to all of us by the pandemic, some folks just need extra help. Some families are in great need of shelter, food, and clothing; our basic human necessities. In many cases, having a full-time job doesn’t pay them enough to meet those basic needs so they turn to SNAP, Medicaid, cash aid, or some other assistance program. Can you honestly blame them if they can take better care of their families on assistance programs rather than working a full-time job for minimal pay? I’d do the same thing if I had to. Wouldn’t you do the same in order to take care of your family? Your children? The fact is, if employers would pay their employees a living wage, then maybe they wouldn’t be losing employees and face closing.

Here’s something to consider: A single mother with two children earning the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour needs to work 235 hours per week, the equivalent of almost six full-time minimum-wage jobs, to make a living wage. (Taken from the Massachusets Institution of Technology, A Calculation of the Living Wage, May 2022.) Doesn’t she deserve better? Shouldn’t she be able to take advantage of any assistance programs available to her?

Unless you have experienced the same issues as those you complain about, you will never understand their hardship. There are many things to consider before bitching and passing judgment on others. I have written about this before. You can read it here.

The Fractured Hand

I was on my computer last Friday afternoon, trying to get some work done. I was a day behind due to the fact that I had to take my daughter to her Drs. appointment on Thursday. Both of the kids (adult kids, that is) were home that day. My son was suppose to work that evening so he was killing some time. I think he watched a movie and played some video games. You know, typical young male activities.

I heard a commotion in the living room and I was due for a break anyway, so I decided to go see what all the ruckus was about. My son was laughing his ass off! My daughter was cracking up, too.

I asked, “What’s going on?”

C.F. says to me calmly, “You don’t want to know.”

I asked, “What did you do?”

He replies, “You don’t want to know.”

I asked, “Did you hurt yourself?” (Remembering the dirt bike incident here and how scared I was that something may have happened to him.)

He held his right hand up and there it was. He broke his freakin’ hand. Immediately my hands went up to my face in shock…. fear…. worry…. well, I don’t know what it was.

I said, “I have to take you to the hospital.”

He agrees, “YES, you do!” All the while laughing like a nutcase.

Apparently, he knocked down a little shelf in his room. This shelf holds a few of his model cars that he worked so hard on. The shelf fell, and everything on it hit the floor. C.F. was mad that this happened and then he punched the wall! He has punched the wall before and left a hole. No injury to himself, thank goodness. This time, there were 2 little knuckle marks on the wall but no hole. He hit the stud this time. I think he may have learned a lesson.

I took him to the ER at the hospital I thought was the best choice. It was closest for one thing, but I didn’t like the other choice. The hospital I chose was in Arkansas, not too far from where we live in Missouri. Now my son has Missouri Medicaid and I always assumed this hospital accepted Medicaid. Turns out the hospital itself DOES accept Medicaid but the Drs. do not accept Missouri Medicaid, specifically.

Great. Now C.F. will get a bill from every freakin’ Dr. that even looked at him cross-eyed that day.

Well, a lot of good it did for me to take him to the emergency room. They looked him over, x-rayed and splinted his hand, wrapped it up and put it in a sling. They gave him a referral to see an orthopedic surgeon and a script for vicoden and sent us on our way.

This being Friday, I couldn’t contact the surgeon until Monday morning.

On Monday morning I called the surgeon’s office.

“Hello. Dr. Moore’s office. Can I help you?” She sounded very nice.”

“Yes,” I said. “Does Dr. Moore accept Missouri Medicaid?”

She said, “No, I’m sorry he doesn’t.”

I explained the situation to her. I asked if I needed a referral to see an orthopedic surgeon.

She said, “Oh, No Ma’am. The only reason Dr. Moore was referred is because he was the surgeon on call that night.”

When I got off the phone, I got to thinking. If he was on call that night then why didn’t they call him to look at C.F.’s hand? It would have saved us a lot of grief.

I called a few other surgeons in Missouri — I was told I needed a referral BUT they didn’t have any openings at all for a couple weeks. One said none until next month. So, I figured I’d take C.F. to a different Dr. and get a new referral. I thought that having the Dr. make the calls we would get an appointment much sooner.

Boy! Was I wrong! It has been 6 days since C.F. fractured his hand and we are still waiting for an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon! It’s a good thing he’s not in a lot of pain! I don’t know what to do at this point. I have been calling the Dr’s. office, consistently since Tuesday morning trying to light a fire under them. They say they’re still working on it. What do I have to do to get my child medical attention? Since it has been this long, the bone has probably started to heal which means it will have to be rebroken in order to set it correctly.

I understand the surgeons are probably booked up but don’t they leave emergency spots open for emergencies?? Of course, this is hardly an emergency but he does need medical attention!

C.F. can’t do anything. He is bored to death. He can’t go to work. He can’t play his guitar, which is his life, he can’t play video games or even use the computer comfortably.

After all is said and done….if it ever gets done that is………I think he may have learned a lesson.
