I’m trying to write something every day and the daily prompts provided by WordPress help. Some of the posts are weird though, like this one!
My top 5 grocery items are must-haves, although I have many must-haves!
- Frank’s Hot Sauce – I buy quart-sized bottles. I use it a lot! In fact, their slogan “I put that shit on everything!” is just about right!
- Bottled Water – Our water is not fit to drink so I buy bottled water. I buy it in gallon jugs to make my tea and coffee, and I buy 24-packs of individual bottles for drinking.
- Low Sodium Tortilla Chips – Because I like a salty, crunchy snack once in a while and I also serve them with several of my soups and chilis.
- Hershey’s Miniatures and Nuggets – I love my chocolate! We always have these in stock in my house! When I have a chocolate craving, I can eat 3 or 4 of these little miniatures or nuggets and I’m good until next time!
- French Vanilla Coffee Creamer – Gotta have my creamer for my 3 cups of coffee in the morning!
What are your top 5 grocery items?

Hi Deb, this is an odd prompt from WordPress but an easy one just the same. My top 5 grocery items are very basic.
1. Instant Rice because I don’t have a rice cooker or the patience to cook long grain rice.
2. Instant Potatoes for the same reason
3. Chicken nuggets, strips or popcorn chicken. quick and easy in the air fryer
4. Ranch Dressing, I use it on everything LOL
5. Bread – sandwiches are always quick and so many options.
That is my top 5. I hope others will add theirs as well. I’m curious now. Hope you are doing well Deb. Take care,
Roze

Haha! I buy instant rice because I have never been able to cook long grain rice without something going wrong and I won’t invest in a rice cooker because I’d probably have the same problem! I can’t even make it in the Instant Pot! Ugh! Instant potatoes, bread, Ranch, and frozen chicken strips are items I buy as well.

I must say, I’ve never thought about using those writing prompts. But this is definitely odd. But what the hey, I’ll play lol.
1. Tabasco Habanero sauce, I keep a bottle in my purse, in my desk and in my car. If you ate New Mexican food you’d understand.
2. Ramen noodles, they are a must in my house for a quick meal.
3. Half & half, I need it for my anti-murder juice (coffee, lattes specifically.)
4. Orange marmalade, it’s my favorite and has been sine I was little.
5. Shredded cheese for my pimento cheese sandwiches.

Oh, I understand about hot sauce. I don’t carry it in my purse, lol, but I have a big quart-sized jug in my fridge of Frank’s. I put it on so-called spicy foods because they are never spicy enough! Plus, some pre-made meals suck anyway so they get a dash (or 6, 12, 20 dashes) to make them taste better! The only ramen I buy are the spicy ones that come in a bowl! Lol. Nissan is the brand, I think. 🙂

Ha! 20 dashes of hot sauce seems right to me, lol. I go to the Korean market near my house and buy a brank called SHIN, Those are super spicy, just like I like my ramen. Of course I add an egg, some green onions, peas or anything else I’m in the mood for that day. I love it! I also have the Frank’s hot sauce, thats also another brand I can’t live without.

Let’s see:
Lactose-free milk, colby jack cheese, bread, real butter, onions and garlic. Oh, and eggs! Okay, my grocery list is NEVER five items or less! Then there’s the Stouffer’s Mac and Cheese, Johnsonville Italian sausage, smoked sausage, breakfast sausage (we eat a lot of sausage), tomatoes. Potatoes. Zatarain’s Jambalaya Mix. Okay, I have to stop now. I’m getting carried away. Rotel tomatoes. 😶

Well, my grocery list is never just 5 items either! My 5 were just things that I make sure to have on-hand, always, without fail. Everything else is just whatever we need. I buy a lot of Kielbasa and hot Italian sausage, cheeses, dried beans, onions, jalapenos, canned tomatoes… We rarely eat potatoes and eggs. Or milk. Those would have been on my top 5 years ago but not now.

Hey, no worries! I could make a really long list but I’d get writer’s cramps. Lol.

Let’s see, coffee, creamer, cheese (sticks, slices or shredded i always have cheese), bread and cereal would be my top 5 I guess. Once I have my coffee and creamer the others don’t matter as much LOL.
